Since Nerula died in her arms, Nagomi has been missing. War is still ongoing and suddenly there is a sneaky ninja in the mix.
Maidalien Maid Arrested
Ranko, Zoya, Yumechi, and Shiipon sit at the table eating breakfast and watching the news about the death of Nerula and the arrest of a maid from Maidalien. The girls are all worried about Nagomi, as she hasn’t felt well since Ranko brought her home after Nerula died in her arms.
Nagomi is Missing
Ranko goes out to the street to hand out flyers when she spots a maid dressed up as a ninja, who seems to be Nagomi. After Ranko approaches her, the girl denies being Nagomi, and they talk inside the girl’s Cafe. Ranko tells her that she knows a maid named Nagomi who has been missing, to which the girl tells her that she must be in a better place and that maybe she wasn’t cut out to be a maid.
Ranko asks her if she likes to be a ninja, and at first, the girl lies saying that it’s a lot of fun, until she can’t hide it anymore and she tells her that of course it isn’t what she wants to be, and uncovers her face showing that she is Nagomi. She feels guilty that she couldn’t save Nerula, and doesn’t want to see anyone else die just because she is useless. And that’s why she doesn’t want to be a maid anymore.
Change to Stay The Same
At Nagomi’s new Cafe, a group requests specifically for her. Upon arriving at their table, they confront her for being Nagomi from the Oinky Doink Cafe, and they are Nerula fans. It appears that Ranko told them she was working there, and the boys give Nagomi a picture of Nerula, making her cry. Nagomi remembers her moments with Nerula and how she would always say “Dream big, go go!”. The boys came to look for Nagomi because Nerula used to talk about her all the time, saying that she would change what it meant to be a maid in Akiba.
Almost as a way to punish herself, Nagomi finds herself in the same alley where Nerula was killed but is taken away from her thoughts by the Ramen shop owner, who sits with her while he lets her eat a bowl of ramen. The advice he gives her is to change to stay the same.
A Maid, Not A Ninja
At our girl’s Cafe, they are on the rooftop on the lookout for Maidalien maids, when seventeen of them arrive to kill them. They all get ready for what is coming towards them, starting with Yumechi who breaks the door smashing a few maids, and the gunfight begins. Manami shows that she has no compassion for the other maids at Maidalien when one of them is being held hostage by our Manager and she still shoots her, with no regard for her life.
When it seems that the girls are trapped and that Ranko might have to sacrifice herself for the Cafe, a surprise comes from the elevator. Nagomi throws smoke bombs and attacks Manami, yelling that she isn’t a ninja, she is a maid.
Nagomi has had immense growth from the last episode to this one, from standing behind Ranko scared while watching her fight to taking the lead and saving her friends by being an active part of the fight.
All of our girls join forces and defeat most of the Maidalien maids, we just Manami and another maid running away. Nagomi and Ranko go after them, and even Panda is outside and covered in blood.
On Your Own
The Maidalien maid walks outside, supporting an injured and angry Manami, and they settle on calling for backup so they can win this war. They stop by a telephone booth and call for help, but it seems that the head of the Creatures group refuses to help them, telling Manami that she doesn’t care and that they are, pretty much, on their own.
The maid tries to help Manami with the wound on her leg, but she tells her to leave, ending up alone on a bench when Nagomi and Ranko show up. Manami tries to get to Nagomi’s head telling her that she is a ninja, not a maid since she is useless, and Ranko has had enough of her, pointing a gun at her before Nagomi gets in the way.
For Manami, a maid should prefer a glorious death over living in disgrace. For Nagomi, her priority is her clients at the Cafe. She remembers the advice that the Ramen shop owner told her, and she tells Manami that as ramen changes, so should maids, meaning that even though a decade ago being a maid implicated these wars, it doesn’t mean that it should keep being that way. Even if she could, Nagomi refuses to kill her because that’s not the kind of maid that she wants to be, and even when Manami attacks her, she counters her attack just by pushing her away from her, not injuring her.
The Fall of Manami
Witnessing Nagomi’s perspective and passion for being a maid, Manami decides to give up on her hunt for the “pigs”. Not only that, but she has no support from the Group, and without backup, she can never kill them.
Watching her walk away, Nagomi tells Ranko that she will be her own idea of a maid that Nerula would be proud of.
Manami barges into the head of the Creatureland’s office, and inside Ugaki and other Managers have their guns pointed at her. All of them relentlessly shoot at Manami, and before she dies she tells them that it sure hurts to live. And this is the end of the infamous Manami.
