Life of a Pet
At the start of the episode, Suzu was thinking of a way to befriend Shirogane so he would not consume her anymore. She had an idea to bake dango to give to the cat before going to school. In the morning, Shirogane tried taking the scroll from Matsuri while she was sleeping, but as expected, he failed. After texting Suzu for reassurance that everything was fine, Matsuri proceeded to cook breakfast, leaving Shirogane and grandpa Seigen to talk. They talked about how Seigen was now retired, and Matsuri was now taking over. When Matsuri came with a tray of food, Shirogane was proud to see that she was becoming girlier as the day passed.
While this conversation was happening, Shirogane’s stomach grumbled, so Matsuri offered him to eat, but the food that Matsur preferred was for a literal cat which made the King of Ayakashi angry. And because of this, the two argued, but then Suzu showed up and gave her baked dango to Shirogane (and here comes more fanservice), which he liked but would not admit it. Suzu texted Matsuri about wanting to befriend Shirogane, and Matsuri was in disbelief but did not question it further.
An Idol and her Fan
As Suzu and Shirogane ran around outside the house, Matsuri resumed eating her breakfast. Grandpa Seigen complimented Suzu on how brave she was, and he also mentioned he understood now why Matsuri looked up to the girl. When Matsuri was a child, he was scared of Ayakashi, and because of this, Ayakashi was attracted to him and caused mischief around him. For example, like chasing Matsuri around while scarring him. The one who saved Matsuri from the Ayakashi chasing him was Suzu, and the way she befriended the Ayakashi around her, made Matsuri idolize the girl. Matsuri was impressed by how Suzu could make the Ayakashi obey when they were still a child.
After reminiscing about the past, Matsuri and Seigen sensed a presence outside their fence, and when Matsuri tried confronting it, the mysterious figure disappeared and left a feather behind. Seigen said it must be some familiar of an Exorcist Ninja and wished it was not a bad sign. Away from the Kazamaki household was the master of the Ayakashi, which stalked Matsuri and the others, and it could be seen that he was also strong and could easily take down an Ayakashi.
In school, Matsuri, Suzu, Yayo, and Lu were talking about which club to choose, but Suzu and Matsuri were both busy after school, so they decided not to join any. This led Yayo and Lu to guess what Matsuri was busy with (and surprise, more fanservice!) Unbeknownst to them, someone was stalking their group.
Oh, a Rival!
The master of the familiar stalking the Kazamaki household was named Ninukuro Soga. It turns out that he was a senior of Matsuri in the Exorcist Ninja group. Matsuri did his first mission as an Exorcist Ninja with Soga before and seeing the strength of Matsui, Soga thought they could be rivals. The familiar showed up and told Soga that Shirogane was outside the school. He wanted to take down Shirogane and was in a foul mood because he saw Matsuri playing with the other girls, so Soga looked intimidating to other students.
Outside the building was Shirogane talking to himself on a bench, and when Soga showed up and attacked him, Shirogane was confused about why someone from the Ninukuro clan suddenly appeared. Shirogane ran, and Soga followed him. As Matsuri and Suzu saw all of this transpire, Matsuri also decided to pursue the two. When Soga saw her, he said that he was disappointed in Matsuri. This was because when they were both fighting the hoard of Ayakashi before, Soga could see how determined Matsuri was to beat all the Ayakashi. But now, Matsuri took Shirogane as a pet and let him live.
Matsuri is a Simp!
When Soga sped away using his Ninja skills, Matsuri was left alone to think, and he did not care if Shirogane was exorcised if it meant Suzu would be safe. But at the school, Suzu wished for Matsuri to bring Shirogane back safely, and she promised that she and Shirogane would be close friends. Back to the chase, Shirogane found himself in a clearing and thought he was safe, but he was shocked to see Soga right behind him, and when the Exorcist Ninja was about to attack the King of Ayakashi, Matsuri showed up riding the wind to save the cat.
Soga asked why Matsuri was doing this, and Matsuri explained the situation regarding Suzu’s Ayakashi Medium issue. She also expressed how important Suzu was to her and delivered the smoothest line I’ve heard from this show. Soga still has not accepted what Matsuri said and attacks the girl, which Matsuri dodges, but her underwear is shown because of this. Soga was taken aback and flustered because of this event, so he let the issue pass and ran away. Matsuri was confused, but she returned to school with Shirogane, which made Suzu happy!
