Manga creators from Japan and the US have collaborated to present “Betwixt: A Horror Manga Anthology”. Scheduled for release on October 10, 2023, this collection explores the space between the known and the unknown, prompting readers to consider: Who will cross that border?

The anthology features six short stories from a mix of creators. Junji Ito, a recognized figure in the manga industry, provides the cover art and a foreword, introducing the stories that follow.
Note that he wrote no stories in the manga itself, simply illustrated the cover.
From Japan, contributions come from Ryo Hanada, creator of “Devil’s Line”; Aki Shimizu, behind “Suikoden III”; and Shima Shinya, known for “Lost Lad London” and co-writer of “Star Wars: The High Republic, The Edge of Balance”. Their stories reflect Japanese traditions and narratives.
The US side includes stories from the team of Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad, known for their work on “Wonder Woman” and “Batgirls”. Leslie Hung, co-creator of “Snotgirl”, and Sloane Leong, creator of “A Map to the Sun”, also contribute. Hua Hua Zhu, a newer voice in the manga community, adds to the anthology.
Published by VIZ as an Original Manga, “Betwixt” stands without prior source material. It showcases a blend of creators from different backgrounds, all focusing on the theme of fear. As the release date nears, readers can look forward to a variety of horror stories from both Japan and the US.
