After the Team Z won the First selection final, allowing them and Team V to pass to the next selection, we had the plot twist of the year, the Blue Lock building was filled with teenagers with the lowest rank. Indignation filled the air as if this was the first time Ego lied to these kids. But there is no time for sulking because the second selection is starting.
The first stage
When Yoichi enters the first stage room, a ball pops in from nowhere and a Blue Lock man hologram appears together with an arc. As Yoichi is quick putting 2 +2 together, he quickly goes for a goal but the Blue Lock man bocks it. Then the mission for this first stage is projected on the screen. Yoichi has to score 100 goals in 90 minutes to pass to the second stage.
The ball and the arc change places between the 4 walls of the room, it’s like a 360 penalty area and the difficulty increases as Yoichi scores more and more goals. There are 3 difficulty levels.
Anri Teieri, after she explains how these penalty rooms work, she confesses to Ego they are out of funds because of those Blue Lock men. He doesn’t care of course because of egoistic. They are supposed to level up as strikers with this method.
The third level recreates real-life situations. With other holograms as opponents and really erratic balls. Yoichi reflects on how his teammates helped him till now. Little Yoichi feels alone. But a real egoist is supposed to survive even without his teammates.
Yoichi managed to sense goals even in this holographic court and ego is having fun spying on him. And so on, Yoichi passed to the second stage.
Here, they have to form teams with 3 people. A wild Bachira appears and automatically pairs himself with Yoichi and thinks about who to choose after.
But before any conclusion could be made Nagi invites Yoichi to his team. Yoichi rejects him, loyalty is important, a good son. Nagi, then makes t easy and teams up with Yoichi. Reo was left speechless, his creation abandoning him. That’s life for you, son. Ask for your daddy to buy him back.
The first opponents
Anyway, Nagi, Bachira, and Yoichi team up with each other. They are greeted by Itoshi Rin, Tokimitsu Aoshi and Aryu Jubei. Hyoma Chigiri and Kunigami team up before Yoichi’s 3 vs 3 match starts. The winning team gets to steal a player from the rival team. The player who ends up alone has to go home. Jinpachi brings the players a new ranking and swears this time is legit.
Tokimitsu doesn’t want to play against Yoichi… or anyone, he’s scared of soccer or something. But he is still the top 3 player in Blue Lock. Aryu Jubei is the glam obsessed top 2 and Itoshi Rin is the Top 1 player in the whole Blue Lock. Good for him.
Yoichi is powered up, he is thriving to play against strong players. This Itoshi Rin has no intention of making friends, that won’t do in a sports anime. Yoichi shows up in front of Rin’s face and asks them to play the first match.
