In the season finale, Fukuzawa finds the strength to face off against Fukuchi for the final time, and Aya tries to stop the vampire apocalypse.
Stopping An Apocalypse

The fact alone that stopping the apocalypse fell in the hands of a ten-year-old girl is quite amusing. Aya’s heroic actions saved the world from the vampire apocalypse, and pulled the sword from Bram’s body. If all it took was the weight of a table and a kid to pull it out, then surely Bram could’ve made more of an effort to enlist someone’s help with removing it. He might’ve been being completely controlled by Fukuchi, but surely the vampire lord could’ve done more than sleep in his coffin all day.
Fyodor’s End

Finally this guy is out of the question for good. Let’s take a moment to talk about Dazai‘s survival though. The way that Chuuya shot him square in the face and STILL it turns out it was all part of his plan, maybe we should start calling him Aizen? It was really cool to see Dazai come walking out of Mersault with that cool look on his face knowing that he’s beaten Fyodor for good. With an explosion like that, it’s safe to say Fyodor is gone.
Fukuchi’s Downfall

Watching Fukuzawa and Fukuchi walk through Poe’s novel and revisit scenes of their childhood was a lot more emotional than I expected. Getting a deeper, more truthful insight into Fukuchi’s motives definitely doesn’t erase all the bad things he did, but it made me feel a little sorry for him. It seemed like he had noble intentions deep down, but he still deceived his comrades in the Hunting Dogs and took the lives of five hundred people. Yeah, it might’ve been to save 210 million people from a future war, but taking a life is never okay.
Attack From Behind

Teruko stabbing Fukuchi from behind came out of nowhere. With Fukuzawa unable to do it himself, someone else had to finish Fukuchi off once and for all. The episode closed out before we got to see whether Fukuchi lived or died, but he sustained multiple wounds so it’s unlikely that he made it.
Final Scene

The final scene showed Atsushi and Akutagawa teaming up against a strange, powerful-looking new foe. Who could this be? Guess we’ll have to wait until season six to find out.
Final Thoughts On This Season
This season was solid all-round. There were lots of well-animated fight scenes, lots of suspense, lots of cliffhangers at the end of every episode, and a great vibe. The anime is super close to catching up to the manga, but let’s stay posted for any news on season six whenever it might arrive!
