Kanojo mo Kanojo or Girlfriend, Girlfriend is a light-hearted romantic comedy anime about a guy who decides to date two girls at the same time. The first season was a blast filled with romance, antsy and funny teen moments, and our main character Naoya being overzealous when it comes to dating and his girlfriends. 

We can expect much more romantic comedy from season 2 of Kanjo mo Kanjo. You can also watch out for other romantic animes like More Than a Married Couple But Not Lovers, and In/Spectre Season 2 which are set to release soon. 

Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 1 Recap

Season 1 of Girlfriend, Girlfriend started with a bam when Noaya realized he wanted to date Nagisa and Saki at the same time. He was already going out with Saki at the time and Saki minded this quite a bit. She only agrees after Naoya lobbies hard and since she finds Nagisa so adorable. 

While Saki reluctantly accepted Nagisa, but closely they grow closer, but not before a bout of jealousy and finding harmony in their strange relationship. They all struggle, especially Saki who feels inferior to Nagisa since she’s so good at housework and has a bigger chest. 

Then, when they finally put aside their differences and accept each other, Rika wants to become Naoya’s girlfriend too. The Rika drama forces Saki and Nagisa to think more seriously about their relationship, and sex. Naoya refuses Rika, but after quite a few mishaps and emotional, if not comedic, drama. 

The season ends with Saki and Nagisa becoming true rivals for Naoya, instead of Nagisa being a step behind like she always is. But, Shino finds out that Naoya is dating both of them, and decides to break up with Saki and Naoya for Saki’s sake. 

Info on the Release Date 

Season 1 of Kanojo mo Kanojo was released in 2021 and we can expect season 2 to release in sometime in 2022. An official date hasn’t been revealed but the official teaser visual was brought to us by Hiroyuki, the author behind this off-the-track romantic comedy. 

What to Expect from Season 2?

We can expect the new season to continue the story, with Saki and Nagisa zealously competing for Naoya’s heart, and maybe Shino working up some way to separate Saki and Naoya. She even decides to live with them to prevent Naoya from two-timing her friend based on the Manga Volume 5. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Shino fell in love with Naoya too? 

Plus, what will happen when Saki’s mother finds out about Naoya’s other girlfriend or girlfriends? We’ll find out about this and more with season 2 of Girlfriend, Girlfriend. And, we can expect Naoya’s girlfriends to update from 2 to 4 in season 2. 

Waiting for another Epic Season

Season 1 of Kanojo mo Kanojo had Satoshi Kuwabara as the director, who is known for his work on The Quintessential Quintuplets, and it was produced at Tezuka Productions. This studio has produced some wonderful anime like Dororo, and Dagashi Kashi 2. Kanjo mo Kanjo has been a great addition to the anime world from them, and season 2 won’t disappoint!
