Naoya and Saki beg Shino to tutor Nagisa so that they can enjoy their summer break together without having to take remedial classes.
Shino’s Feelings

It’s really hard to put a finger on how Shino truly feels when she’s never open about that kind of thing. On the outside, it seems like she (understandably) hates Naoya, and wants him to stop two-timing her friend Saki. But over the course of this episode, she’s seen getting flustered multiple times whenever Naoya compliments her. She flat-out rejected his compliments a few times too, but the ratio of “go away” to “deep down I actually like him” seems to be falling more in favor of the latter as the series progresses. There was a nod to this in the opening where the two of them sit near the sea and she contemplates placing her hand on top of Naoya’s. If you’re this far in the series, it’s not hard to tell where this is going to go.
Tutoring

I really wish Shino would’ve just said no to tutoring Nagisa, she gets absolutely nothing out of it whatsoever. The only reason Naoya wants Nagisa to pass is so he can spend time with both her and Saki over summer, Shino was never even on the invite list. This guy Naoya is in desperate need of a reality check.
Rika’s Sister

This entire scene was one massive “what is actually going on” moment. For starters, why is Rika okay with using her sister to try to win Naoya over? For once Naoya actually said something right when he said “If I was going to go out with you to get closer to your younger sister, that would make me a weird guy”. Yeah, you’re damn right it’d make you a weird guy and that’s to say the least, you’d probably end up on a watchlist before you make it back to your house. I’m not that easily weirded out by anime, but this whole “onii-chan” stuff has really gotta stop, no matter how big of an anime cliche it is.
First Thoughts On This Season
There are definitely some positives to this series. Humor is possibly the most subjective thing on the planet, but I find a lot of the scenes pretty funny most of the time. Wherever there is light there are always shadows though, and this series has a lot to improve on. The only character that I genuinely like is Saki, because I just straight up feel bad for her. Nagisa irritates me, Rika needs to get checked into a psych ward, and Naoya is the reason this entire mess is happening in the first place. He’s the living definition of the “bro thinks he’s a harem MC” meme. People who hate on Kazuya from Rent-a-Girlfriend clearly haven’t met this guy. If anything Kazuya is relatable, this guy is just unlikable most of the time.
Now for the main reason I dislike this series – the fanservice. One of the biggest things that frustrates me in anime (specifically romcoms) is when there’s loads of fanservice with underage characters. Every single one of these girls are fifteen, like come on man. I’m a 21-year-old male with a degenerate side, I’m not gonna sit here and say I’m opposed to fanservice, but please make the characters eighteen or over. Underaged girl fanservice is the quickest thing that puts me and many other normal people off an anime instantly. Anyway – enough rambling. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
