In episode 7, we open with the Priestess enjoying a calming moment in an onsen by herself. Then it cuts to the party from earlier having emerged from the sewers and disperses to attend to personal matters.
As the Priestess contemplates her journey with Goblin Slayer, the Sword Maiden joins her in the onsen. The stark scars on the Sword Maiden suggest a harrowing past, possibly tied to goblins. This hints at a deeper connection and understanding between the Sword Maiden and Goblin Slayer.
As the scene transitions, the High Elf Archer navigates the hustle and bustle of Watertown’s guild lobby. Despite the unwanted attention from bystanders, she catches up with Goblin Slayer to inquire about a letter he mentioned. The duo exchanges a brief conversation, touching upon the absence of quests related to giant rats in the expansive sewer system, before parting ways for the day.
The next day’s expedition into the sewers comes with an added precaution – a canary. Known to be sensitive to poison gas, Goblin Slayer brings the bird to alert them of any such threats. Their strategy is clear: sidestep minor skirmishes and target the goblin leader.
As they venture deeper, they stumble upon an ancient chamber with depictions of past adventurers. The labyrinthine design of the chamber is evident, and the group’s anticipation escalates.
However, things take a dark turn when they are ambushed in a room. A decoy figure, initially thought to be a captured victim, is revealed to be a mere skeleton, and the party gets trapped. As poison gas seeps in, Goblin Slayer’s preparedness shines as he provides makeshift gas masks and plugs the gas source. The imminent goblin onslaught begins, and the door is breached by a formidable Goblin Champion.
A tumultuous battle ensues, and the odds seem stacked against our heroes. Goblin Slayer faces the Goblin Champion but is quickly overpowered and gravely injured. The Priestess, witnessing this horror, loses her protective barrier. The situation grows dire as the Goblin Champion grievously injures the Priestess.
Yet, in a moment of sheer willpower and determination, Goblin Slayer revives, channeling his unyielding spirit to overpower the Goblin Champion. In a fierce display, he incapacitates the goblin leader, causing the remaining goblins to flee in fear. As the dust settles, the battered team regroups. Both Goblin Slayer and Priestess are on the brink, with the episode concluding on a harrowing cliffhanger
Another good episode from Goblin Slayer. It’s now revealed who or what is leading the goblins. The plot didn’t exactly progress by much but the things that did happen were still significant. There is also a really cool 3D scene of Goblin Slayer killing goblins. That stood out to me because it was the first time they made a scene like that. Goblin Slayer’s determination to kill goblins is also shown greatly through the climax of the episode. Overall, it’s another good Goblin Slayer episode.
