This episode revolved around Yanagi – how he fits into the group, his formal and casual ways of speaking, and what his friends would do for him if he found himself in a tight spot.
Waiting For The Bus
This was a great scene both comedically and in general. Remi and Hori‘s impressions were brilliant, Miyamura getting caught in the middle like usual was super funny, but the best part was the fact that the three of them went over to keep Yanagi company in the cold while he waited for his bus. The way that Miyamura realised the bus was going to be late and immediately thought of Yanagi is what we love to see, the group becomes more and more tight-knit with every episode. Remi’s extravagance in her new persona reminded me of Bocchi’s (from Bocchi The Rock!!!) impression of extraverted people, anyone else?
Not A Morning Person
You and me both Yanagi, you and me both. Good to see that Sengoku‘s text got him up and moving, even if it was the unintentional funniness that did the trick. I wonder what it was that Sengoku said? After his message to Hori that read “Kyo-chan! There’s water being washed back across the school! How funny!” I guess anything’s possible.
Casual Vs Formal
Personally, I see the Horimiya gang as one big group. Sure you can divide them into smaller groups like the Student Council group, Toru and Yuki, Miyamura and Hori etc. but they all come together as one big group in the end. That’s one thing I’ve really enjoyed about this season so far – characters are interacting with each other who never really did in the first season, Yanagi and Sakura for example. Yanagi’s formal discourse with certain members of the group like Sengoku as opposed to his casual discourse with others like Iura and Yoshikawa just comes down to his personal preference, but I think respect comes into it a lot. Iura and Yuki being happy-go-lucky goofballs, they’re super easy to get along with. Yanagi probably thinks that someone a little more serious about things like Sengoku should be addressed with more formality, when in reality Sengoku wants to be addressed more casually to get closer to Yanagi.
Another banger episode, I expect no less from Horimiya. I mentioned a few episodes ago that in my opinion Horimiya has some of the best comedy elements in any romcom I’d ever seen, but I take that back. Horimiya has the best everything of any romcom I’ve ever seen. Immersive atmosphere, realistic characters, hilarious and unique comedy, it’s got it all. I will continue to praise the brilliance of this series forever. How do you guys feel about this anime? Am I being too biased? Let us know down below!
