Yasuda-sensei is the teacher of Class 3-1, the class in which Hori, Miyamura, Toru and Yoshikawa belong to. This episode explored the strange goings-on in the school as a result of his illegal interests.
This guy really is weird, how he’s still employed by the school is a complete mystery. If you’re from the UK, you might have heard of the series “The Inbetweeners“. The similarities between Yasuda and Mr Kennedy are undeniable, the only difference being Yasuda goes after teenage girls and Mr Kennedy goes after teenage boys. Despite his intense creepiness, Yasuda is quite funny. What kind of self-respecting teacher would want to be awake while teenage girls mess with him and tie his hair up? Yasuda, for the safety of the students, find another job mate.
Yuki and Nakamine
Oh man Horimiya comedy – I could praise it forever. The reveal of Yasuda being stood next to Toru glaring through the window was brilliant. Like, why are you even here? Haven’t you got exam papers to mark? Lessons to plan? Naps to take in the staff room? There’s so many other things this guy could be doing but nooo, he prioritises pressing his face against a window with a burning jealousy because another teacher is getting the attention of a teenage girl. I think it’s fair to say that we were all just as confused as Toru when he looked over to see Yasuda stood right next to him. Get a life man! Or maybe just start by getting a girlfriend – an of age, consensual one!
“Hello, Young Adolescent Boys!”
And the best one liner I’ve heard in anime for a very long time goes to: “Hello, young adolescent boys!”. Its got the weirdness factor, but at the same time it’s really funny considering Yasuda got the wrong impression after listening in from outside. Watching him interact with the main boys of the series really cements the idea that this guy needs to be fired immediately. If his behaviour around the girls wasn’t bad enough, he’s so laid back and casual with the boys it doesn’t befit the role of a teacher at all. It’s no surprise that the students collectively refer to him as just “Yasuda” and not ‘Yasuda-sensei” he really doesn’t deserve that title at all.
Trapped With A Demon
You really gotta feel for Sengoku here. Even Miyamura expressed his condolences towards Sengoku after realising what had happened. Sengoku got locked in a classroom with Hori, of all people. Of course it was Yasuda who let them out, but it was most likely him who locked them in there in the first place. What was he doing in the school that late anyway? Concerning stuff.
Another brilliant episode, comedy at a high level throughout. Leave a comment down below!
