Bikkuri-Man is a 1987’s original anime inspired by Lotte’s wafer snack products with the same name. The anime has 5 seasons and 2 movies with hundreds of episodes in total that aired between 1987 and 2006.
Now after roughly 15 years without any new series, the anime is confirmed to return with a brand-new original story under the title “Bikkuri-Men”. The confirmation came with an announcement that was made on April 1, which apparently does not only mean April Fools but also Bikkuri-Man Day.

A teaser visual was shown and made by the mangaka of the Shaman King series Hiroyuki Takei who will also be in charge of the characters’ designs. Along with the visual, a video teaser is also streamed exclusively on the product’s official website.
Bikkuri-Man snacks were first released in 1977 and created various sticker sets as a part of its marketing and merchandising strategy. The characters in the stickers were what become the main inspiration for the comedy-fantasy anime produced and animated by Toei Animation.
