Ahh yes, the famed “Hot Springs” episode. Every fanservice-y anime has one, so of course, My Tiny Senpai will have one as well.
Let’s just get into it.
This episode begins with Hayakawa lamenting that she wants a break from work; and thus, Shinozaki tells her they just had New Years. Hayakawa says that it doesn’t matter because after you’ve visited all your relatives and such, the break’s already over, so it’s hardly a break. Hayakawa then tries to convince Shiori and Shinozaki to join her at a Hot Spring and take personal time off to do so. Akina comes in and is invited as well, and he allows it, simply because it’s the “slow period” at work.
Well, they get to the Hot Spring, and Hayakawa and Shiori immediately start acting silly. We get a cute and sad scene of Shiori unsuccessfully trying to pet the cats that loiter around the hot spring.
The next sequence is in regards to Shiori’s swimsuit. There’s a pool at this hot spring. Shinozaki wants to see Shiori’s swimsuit and compliment her, but Shiori seems to be a bit self conscious when Shinozaki — and only Shinozaki — sees her. Shinozaki eagerly tries to get Shiori in the pool (since, once she enters, she’ll have to get rid of the sweatshirt she has) but he learns that Shiori can’t swim. Offering to help teach her, she inevitably gets into the pool.
Of course, we get the fanservice scene of Shinozaki slipping and grabbing ahold of Shiori to try and stop himself, but he grabs onto her bikini top and it comes loose. Her chest isn’t exposed, but still. Had to happen, it’s a fanservice rule. Big boob girl gets in pool? Bikini top will come off.
The rest of the episode follows Shinozaki and Shiori as Shiori ends up drinking a bit and becomes a nuisance for Shinozaki. The pinnacle of this is when Akina, Hayakawa and a staff member finds Shinozaki on the ground with a barely-conscious, drunk Shiori.
Yeah, let’s not touch that part.
Opinions / Analysis
This episode spent way too long on Shinozaki and Shiori. I was really hoping for more Hayakawa and Akina, especially since Hayakawa is the one who wanted to go to the Hot Spring to begin with. Well, I guess it’s whatever.
It’s annoying too, because any and all development between Shinozaki and Shiori is moot because she’s drunk. Like, can’t their relationship progress when they’re sober? They’re adults. This is silly
I don’t know, this episode just wasn’t it for me, I suppose!
