Last episode we got to see Inglis’s baptism & how she had grown six years later. An old enemy returned as a Highlander & is causing trouble. Holy Knight Leon attacks his own partner. Just what are we in store for this time?
We pick up with Eris & Inglis faced off with Leon. Eris asks if he means to betray them. Leon responds saying that it was something like that. Then he goes on to tell them how he can’t do anything for the people when it comes to Highlanders. Even though it is his duty to protect them.
He doesn’t want innocent people to be hurt by either Highlander or Magicite Beast. As they are talking Leon asks if Inglis had heard of the Bloodchain Brigade/Steelblood Front. Eris proceeds to talk about them. Apparently they are an anti-Highland guerilla organization.
Highlanders have destroyed entire towns in other countries due to the Brigade killing one of theirs. Leon tells them that the real goal of the Bloodchain Brigade/Steelblood Front is to turn their blood to chains & drag the Highland down to earth. Inglis continues what he is saying. That they’d kill the Highlanders & steal the technology to spread it among the people on the surface. Leon says that it’s the ideal outcome.
The Brigade/Front had been trying to recruit him for a while & that what happened at the party was the push he needed. Eris says they can’t win against the Highland. Leon tells her that’s why he wants to bring her along. If they get a Hyrule Menace to research, then they may discover how to make Artifacts without the Highlanders.
Eris refuses to take part in what would lead countless to their deaths. Leon then asks Inglis if she wants to join them. She declines as well, for the sole reason of getting to fight Leon if she sides with Eris.
Human to Magicite Beast
As their talk reaches its end. Leon uses his Artifact to try & keep Inglis busy so as to take Eris. Inglis uses an Aether Shield to take down the electric beasts & gets between Eris & Leon. Leon believes that she can’t use that trick for long. He goes to use his Artifact but is stopped by Inglis.
Leon tries to get away but is caught by her. As Inglis kicks Leon in the gut. Rafinha crashes out of one of the windows, followed by a Magicite Beast. Inglis rushes to protect her & sends the beast tumbling back. Checking on Rafinha, she asks why she was there. Rafinha tells her how she wasn’t going to let her face him alone & was going to teach him a lesson. As she was waiting she heard him screaming & turned into the beast.
While they are wondering how it was possible. Leon tells them that he had Drugged Rahl with Prism Powder. It was harmless to those on the surface & was given to him by the Brigade/Front the last time they met. He then makes his escape.
Inglis looks & finds a way to beat Rahl without taking a chunk of the city with him. Rafinha’s father & other knights show up. Inglis tells them that Eris will handle the beast. She drags Eris await & they get in close to kick him out of the city. Inglis, Eris & Rafinha go to finish it. Inglis uses her Aether Strike to finish Rahl in a single hit.
Afterwards Eris tells them that she will have all the blame be put on Leon for his betrayal. As a means to protect them & Ymir for retaliation.
Inglis also wants her to take credit for defeating the Magicite Beast to which she agrees but Inglis would owe her a favor in return. Before Eris leaves, Inglis asks why she was upset that night they were introduced. Eris says that she doesn’t want to talk about it & doesn’t want anyone to know if she can help it.
3 Years Later
Inglis & Rafinha are now 15 years old & are setting off to the Royal Capitol to enroll in the academy to train as knight & squire. Ten days into their journey they are running low on funds. They learn that the ruler of Nova was a Highlander. The cook at the restaurant they were dining suggested they take a job at the castle.
The hiring exam was to defeat a few knights & they were given a room to use. They talk in the bath & are approached by the ruler, Cyrene. They continue to talk in the bath about various matters. She then proceeds to ask Inglis & Rafinha for their help in fighting people instead of just Magicite Beast.
The people they are to face are those who worked for the corrupt former ruler. They had all been removed from their positions due to their cruel behavior. The group had been causing trouble & is believed to be planning something. Cyrene wants to put a stop to them as soon as possible to prevent others from getting hurt.
The head of the gang comes out & the rest surround them. Rafinha goes to use her arrows but it is counted by a woman. Inglis notices that she is just like Eris & determines that she’s a Hyrule Menace.
My Thoughts on the Episode
The action was decent & the pacing wasn’t bad. They explained about a faction that is going to be part of the focus for the plot. Still haven’t seen much of them aside from bits that Leon played part in. This time skip is likely the last one for a while given that we have reached the point of them going to academy. We also got two new characters introduced.
First the Highlander, is she really as nice as she portrays herself to be? Sure she could be one of the few good people, but there could still be a dark side to all this. As for the Red Head, which side of the table does she sit at? Guess we’ll learn more as we go. Overall I’d likely give this episode a 5.9 out of 10.
