Overall, not much happened this episode, I gotta say. If anything, we get some nice development on Challe and Anne.
Content
Well, this episode leaves off exactly where the other did; except now, Anne is asking the Duke to allow her some information about the fairy in the portraits. She claims it’ll help her craft the best sugar candy. Duke William agrees. We learn that her name was Christina, and she was born of water. Water fairies have very unstable lifespans, with some only living a few years and some living hundreds. Christina did not live for very long. And now, Duke William wants sugar candy that looks like her so that if he looks at it long enough, perhaps Christina will be born again.

Lid Pod finds Challe and tells him that Jonas made Anne send him away. Challe loses his composure a bit and runs off to find her.

Challe bursts in the door as Anne is working on the candy and gets very touchy with her. He tells her that they’re leaving, and Anne demands to stay so she can finish the candy. Challe then goes to fend off any soldiers (or rather, delay them, because he doesn’t actually fight them) to buy Anne time.

Surprise surprise, Anne makes a great sugar candy and Duke William loves it so much he begins to cry. Anne is paid and runs off to find Challe, tripping down the stairs and falling into his arms. He hugs her very intimately. The Duke is arrested, but is placed on a light sentence of just house arrest.

Anne ends this episode by praying for Duke William to be able to grieve the woman he loved properly. She, Challe and Lid Pod go to eat dinner at some place that Lid Pod found.
Opinions / Analysis
Yeah, I mean, this episode had a lot of fanservice for the Anne x Challe shippers. I don’t dislike it, but it was a bit overbearing this episode.
It felt like they were rushing to wrap up this plot point — and it makes sense, I mean, the season’s almost over by now. I still have the same gripes I have before;
- Use more of Lid Pod rather than making him a messenger
- Address the fact that Anne is still young and that she has plenty of time to grow as a woman. Stop rushing to grow up, and stop trying to change yourself for this 100-year-old fart. But ofc, Shoujo gonna Shoujo I guess.
Overall, I’m interested in what the final mini arc will be!
