Fushi’s work, spreading the word of… himself? I guess, continues, Kahaku confessed, Fushi got sick in Parona’s body. After he told her story, he got betrayed, kidnapped, imprisoned, and tortured by the Church. Tell me about a rough week. Prince Bonchien neither had it easy as he got imprisoned too. But to be fair, he’s the one who sold Fushi. Todo/Iris, in the cell next to his, is the only saint here.
Prince Bochien is in a cage suspended, there are alligators below it, waiting for their dinner. Together with him, a little boy is with him, sharing the same cage. Todo/Iris is in the other cage beside Bon, balancing the whole system so they don’t fall to their death.
Bennet church will hold a trial against Prince Bon to prove he is a heretic, following the demon’s orders. Little Chabo’s only sin was stealing some bread to eat, together with his mom. When Prince Bonchien asks about her ghost, Chabo burst into anger as he is still in denial about his mother’s death.
So the trial begins. Prince Bonchien answers the ridiculous questions made by the church as logically as he can. Such as how he found Fushi, and why he trusts ghosts. In this context, ghosts are the sanest characters in this arc.
The meal consists of just bread for the prisoner,s and while Chabo is all excited, Prince Bon is waiting for his banquet, he even wants to take Chabo’s half of his bread. So Todo the saint is the one who ends up sharing bread with them.
The trial continues and it gets spicy when the Church starts asking about the good deeds that Fushi and Prince Bonchien had been doing. Like sharing food, money, and prosthetic legs. It’s incredible how they have the nerve to say it’s written in their book that the poor should eat basically smiles and rainbows that their God gives them.
Swords and Crowns
That night, after sharing his food, Todo asks Prince Bonchien about his favorite things to which he answers swords and crowns, obvs.
Back to the longest trial in this world’s history so far, questions now center on Prince Bonchien’s powers to communicate with the dead. He’s asked to prove it is a power given by God who wants people to starve. So Prince Bonchien starts describing little Chabo’s mom to the guard who killed her.
While Chabo comes to the realization his mother is dead, Bon starts to think about why his dream was to be a king. He realized it wasn’t about the throne or even power but it was more like a characteristic to him. So he didn’t what it to be taken away. Prince Bon is growing up. It’s nice how he sees Iris’s shadow on the cliff, just like in the book that kids nowadays were reading.
Fushi wakes up and loses his conscience again over and over again, he starts melting together with the iron regeneration after regeneration. But he hasn’t given up hope yet.
As Todo/Iris loses weight because of starvation, Bon and Chabo’s cage starts to fall down directly into the alligator’s mouth. After balancing the weight once more by breaking the cage, Prince Bonchien comes to the realization that is time to give Todo/Iris his food back.
Chabo falls down, sick and before helping, Priest Cylira literally leaves him to the will of his God and signs out.
The Great Escape
Back in the iron box, Fushi learns to control the melted iron and starts giving shape to it, finally escaping while in the center of the town, the people who support him take the new figure in the box as defeat, and the people who is against him cheer in ignorance.
Finally, Outside the box, Fushi tracks Bon all the way to the cage and not only he deals with the alligators but he saves Chabo too, before going to Todo, Bon sacrifices himself and wins the audience back. The church wants to show Fushi is a demon and not some new god that puts their power in jeopardy, they want a culprit and Bon is going to take the blame so people who love Fushi won’t be persecuted anymore. Fushi wishes him luck and escapes together with Chabo and Todo. Bon comes to the realization that Fushi doesn’t need him, Prince Bon is growing up.
The next day, the Church discovers the bodies that Fushi left instead of the real Chabo and Todo and Prince Bon tells this hilarious story about how a purple demon in pink tights and fluffy hair came last night saying no one messes with his bro, Fushi. Bon’s description sounds so much like him that I don’t know if it’s funny or sad… Anyway, the Church asks Prince Bon to repent and he is like FUSHI FTW so he gets condemned to death for heresy. The ghosts are loyal to him until the end but an owl can be seen in the sky…
