Fushi finally got to escape the iron box prison and went straight to save Prince Bonchien and Todo who were captive in a cage, about to be eaten by alligators. Prince Bonchien decides to stay, to clear things up with the Church but what he didn’t tell Fushi is that he was to take all the blame for their so-called sins, he got condemned as a heretic and is about to be executed.
Prince Bonchien is dead
The next thing we know is that the whole town lost consciousness. And you won’t believe it, Priest Cyrila’s first priority was making sure the execution was finished. Sadly it was and Prince Bonchien’s headless body lay in the guillotine. The whole kingdom is mourning Prince’s Bonchien death, and the King and his family are devastated.
Bon wakes up and his ghosts assure him he is very much dead. Luckily Fushi comes to put things straight. He’s very much alive and Fushi takes him to his own funeral, It must be so hard having to watch your own family mourning you. But soon enough Fushi reunites them and they welcome Bon to his new life. As the old Prince Bonchien is dead, now Bon is free to continue his new life.
Fushi explains how, that night in the cage, he didn’t abandon Prince Bonchien. He learned to not trust politicians a long time ago and used Tonari’s book to look for something that could help Bonchien. He created a strong poison and spread it with Ligard. Using his new powers, he melted the guillotine’s blade and saved Bon before his execution.
Bon tells Fushi how happy he is with the outcome, more than becoming King, and thanks him for saving his life. Fushi is surprised and he was helpful. Look at that happy face, what a good person.
A second chance
After having a makeover, to hide his identity, Bon meets a very gloomy Kahaku who tells him that with Prince Bonchien being condemned as a heretic, the guardians can’t continue their activities so openly so they have to disband. The long dynasty of groupies has to disband.
The girls, Iris, Pocoa, and Fushi/Rean are having tea in the castle’s garden, aren’t they sweet. But look at the guards drooling over them, shoo shoo. Bon can’t believe his first love from childhood is in front of his eyes. Pocoa invents a new name for him so the guards will let the Spring-roll Barin pass. How the guards believed that is a mystery yet to be solved.
Iris tells Bon that Chabo, the little boy they met in the cage is safe with them. Bon still is not at peace with Iris’s true Identity, as he shows he recognizes her as Todo. He asks for the handkerchief Todo/iris was making in the cage and the one she made when they were kids. But reality is too much for him and burst into nervous laughter before excusing himself.
Iris and Fushi go after Bon to ask him if he is ok but he responds with all sorts of questions Iris about how she ended up working for him. But he can’t take it and rejects Iris telling her how she differs from the girl he’s been imagining all his life. Of course, Iris is more than hurt and want’s to go back to his identity as Todo. Thankfully, Chabo is there too and helps Bon come back to his senses who quickly apologizes in a vert Prince Bonchien tsundere way. He wants Iris to be in the castle.
A chat with the Nokker
People are still mourning the brave soldier Todo and Prince Bonchien when Fushi decides to go back on his trip. Bon asks him in a very cryptic way if Fushi would be happy if he found out that all his friends could come back to life. But before he can answer, Fushi feels pain. Kahaku’s pain. He tried to kill the Nokker in his arm. Kahaku himself is a cocktail of despair with the guardians about to disband, Parona hating him, and alcohol… of course. But the thing took control of his arm to prevent it.
The Nokker takes control of Kahaku’s arm and starts writing on the floor with a knife. The party takes an opportunity to know more about this creature who’s been murdering people for so many years. They say that The Beholder and Fushi are preventing the liberation of the soul from their bodies. The Nokkers themselves are this Fye energy and want to release as many souls as they can from their vessels.
Fushi asks the Nokker when would the next attack be and it turns out it will be coincidently on the Church of Bennet, where Fushi can’t even show his face. This is no time to disband the Guardians, Kahaku, son. Fushi leaves in a hurry and even forgets his poor horse who runs after him. Bon is preparing to go to battle with him. Fushi has a new resolution as he realizes Nokkers are not actually following him. When he reached the town, it was under attack indeed.
