Okay. First and foremost, there is way too much to say about this episode. So before we get into the juicy stuff, let’s start at the beginning with the school play. Even if Carol went a little (or a lot) off script, the audience loved the performance none-the-less. Can’t blame them really, if I had the privilege of witnessing Prince Tomo dance with Cinderella Misuzu, I’d be clapping excessively loudly as well, haha.
Tomo and Jun
Watching Jun’s feelings develop over the last few episodes has been interesting to watch, but how quickly they’ve developed compared to Tomo’s who we’ve seen showing romantic interest over the course of the series, has been really cool to see. To see Jun go from slapping Tomo’s ass in the first episode oblivious to how she might feel as a girl to indirectly confessing his feelings at the festival dance has been quite the transformation, superb character development by the author.
Up On The Rooftop
Jun trapping Tomo on the roof was smart, knowing she wouldn’t be able to get away once she was up there. Except instead of confessing directly this time, he asks her to hit him? Strange way of saying I love you. Tomo being Tomo she couldn’t hit him without a reason, so Jun let her know that he had no idea that she was acting more girly for his sake and gave her one, hahaha.
The best part about this episode and in my opinion this entire series is Tomo and Jun’s indecision. Should they stay as friends and continue goofing around together like they always have? Or take things more seriously and enter a relationship? They portrayed that really well here. Neither of them want to let go of what they have, but they acknowledge their feelings for each other and want to do something with those feelings. Jun racing Tomo up the stairs was a great representation of the pair’s desire to continue their friendship. But the conversation that followed showed otherwise, it showed that they now both know with certainty that they feel the same way about each other. How they will take things now that they have that knowledge will be revealed in the final episode next week!
This anime has exceeded my expectations week after week. With only one episode to go, it’s gonna be sad to see it come to an end. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a season 2, which as long as there is enough adaptable manga content remaining, is probable due to the series’ success. I’d personally quite easily put this one in my top 5 romance anime, possibly top 3. How about you guys? Let us know in the comments!
