Jun’s 1st Encounter
As Jun takes a jog, he stops at a place where she first met Tomo. The episode then goes into a flashback of the time he met Tomo. After Jun continues to show disinterest in all the questions she’s asking, Tomo decides to snatch his console and play on it for herself. This leads to her breaking the device and Jun punching her for it. Tomo insists that he punches her more than once because she broke something that was important to him. Although that is so, Junichirou chose to do such a harsh act.
After the incident, a Sensei named Goro, who happens to be Tomo’s dad, arrives and apologizes for his daughter’s behavior. He then proposes that he pays off any damages or expenses. While Jun is left frightened that the dad came off with somewhat non-intentional aggressive behavior, Tomo’s Mother, Akemi, tells Goro not to harass the new neighbor. Tomo later apologizes for breaking his game which leads to the two agreeing to be friends.
A Day of Catching Bugs
One day, Young Tomo decided to bring Misuzu with her, advising Jun to become acquainted with her. The three then go on a trip to go bug-catching; as they’re walking, Tomo explains how the spot they’re going to is up a hill with 200 steps. As Tomo carries Misuzu up the hill with no problems, Junichirou questions how it is possible, but then runs up the steps after Misuzu looks at him with an evil grin. While the trio finally makes it up to the top and starts their catching journey, Misuzu becomes a little protective when she notices that Tomo and Jun have been talking a little more.
Two bullies later confront Jun in an attempt to get his console from him. After getting beat up for it, Jun lies about the mark on his face after he is questioned by Tomo-chan the following day. After school, Tomo arrives at Jun’s place to give him a console that she “found on the ground” and then reassures him that she’s going to help if he’s having trouble with something given that they’re friends. Jun then tells Tomo she can borrow the console until he gets stronger than her and goes to train to do just that.
Tomo-chan Gets Jealous
In the next segment, the group decides to go to the beach for summer vacation! As the crew meets up at the airport, Misuzu and Carol put multiple items on Jun. The two then begin to talk about how he looks, which caused Jun to become angry and Tomo to calm him down. As the group finally arrives at the beach, they all begin to change into their outfits. After Jun saw what Tomo had on underneath her hoodie, he immediately zips it back up.
While everyone plays around in the water, Tomo throws sand balls due to Carol getting too close to Jun. Tomo later runs into a guy that attempts to flirt with her. After Tomo felt that something didn’t feel quite right, Junichirou steps in and helps her. Carol then asks Jun to save her, which causes Tomo to get upset. This is for the reason that he basically claimed Carol as his girl but not her.
Due to Misuzu giving her advice, Tomo decides to buy ice cream and play in the water with Jun again. While the crew is on the way home, Misuzu questions if something happened to Jun while at the beach, and thought to herself as she knew it had something to do with Tomo-chan. From here, hopefully, more romance will be shown between Jun and Tomo.
So this episode definitely proved that this is a turning point in Tomo and Junichirou’s relationship. And honestly, it really has provided some of the best laughs in the entire show so far. The backstory was so well done, you can tell how much Tomo has grown up. On the other hand, I’m glad Jun is starting to only see Tomo as a girl now.
