Isekai Genre has become quite popular in recent years. Fans are wanting MORE and MORE of them! We’ve seen a LOT of fascinating Isekai anime these past few years including Jobless Reincarnation, Konosuba, and That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime.
In case, you are new to Anime and don’t know what an Isekai is, I’ll tell you a bit about them.
The Isekai Genre revolves around people who get reincarnated or teleported to another world. Most of the time, these new worlds are based on Magic! The Isekai genre is known to be the most VERSATILE genre as you can couple it with any other genre in existence.
However, fans are getting kinda bored of them because of their repetitive storylines and the same cliche with OP MCs and Harem. They want SOMETHING NEW!! We’ll talk about this some other time.
Without any further ado, let’s begin!
10. The Rising of The Shield Hero

2019 was a FANTASTIC year for anime fans all around the globe. We witnessed some new-gen greats including Demon Slayer, Dr. Stone, and ofc The Rising of The Shield Hero.
This show is somewhat different from your TYPICAL Isekai in that the MC was actually summoned as a Hero from Earth. The plot revolves around Iwatani Naofumi AKA The Shield Hero who was summoned into a fantasy world to save it from a mysterious phenomenon named WAVES!!
He was quite excited in the beginning, however, little did he know what was coming up! Betrayal, hatred, and revenge are the KEY POINTS of this fascinating show.
09. Digimon

I know most of y’all are surprised by this one. Digimon is INDEED an Isekai!! It is one of the most unique shows I’ve witnessed in this genre.
Well! Digimon has a LOT of parts and some of them take place in the human world. However, most of it still transpires in the Digiworld. This show is a perfect blend of action, adventure, comedy, and INSANE character development. In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t watched it, you should deffo give it a shot.
08. Sword Art Online

SAO is perhaps the most POPULAR Isekai anime out there and it is also one of the most HATED anime! Why is it hated? Well! Some people consider it too childish and overrated.
About the plot, the story revolves around a game named Sword Art Online. This game allows the player to physically experience the game. However, the plot took a dark turn when it was announced that the players cannot leave and that if they die in the game they’ll die in the real world as well.
In order to leave the game, the players have to clear all 100 LEVELS!! Can they do it?
07. Mushoko Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Mushoko Tensei is regarded as the BEST ISEKAI ANIME of all time. This show is well-known for its fascinating world-building and character dynamics. This show is quite different from other Isekai.
It might seem a bit chill in the beginning just like any other Isekai. However, the way it builds up everything is INSANE!!! The plot revolves around a 34-year-old NEET who got was given another chance at life after a tragic death. He promises not to repeat the mistakes he made in his previous life.
06. Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World

Konosuba is the exact opposite of Mushuko Tensei! Have you heard about Parody shows? Shows like Gintama and Konosuba are considered Parodies as they make fun of the original genre.
Konosuba’s plot revolves around Kazuma, a Shut-In NEET. Unlike other Isekai MCs, Kazuma’s death was rather bizarre. I don’t even want to talk about it LOL! After getting reincarnated, he was given the opportunity to take anything with him, and guess what? He took the Goddess Aqua herself. And this is where his BIZARRE journey begins.
05. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime

Another show that aired in 2019 and got INSANELY popular! That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a pretty unique show in that the MC is a FREAKIN SLIME!! Yess! You read that right! The weakest monster.
The strongest point of this show is its insane character diversity and the way it focuses on their development. Once you start watching it, there is no turning back! The animation is also pretty mesmerizing.
04. Overlord

How can you make a list of Isekai anime and not include this one? I mean, it’s just IMPOSSIBLE! Overlord is one of the OG Isekai anime that played a huge part in this genre’s popularity.
The premise of this show is pretty unique and intriguing as well. The story follows a guy named Momonga AKA Ainz Ooal Gown who was spending his last few minutes inside the game as it was going to shut down. Now, this is where the fun begins! He was supposed to automatically log out after the game’s shut-down, however, that didn’t happen, and guess what? He cannot log out manually as well. Now, he’s stuck inside the game!!! What will he do?
03. Inuyasha

Inuyasha is another popular show that aired back in the 1990s. It was quite popular back in the day and just like Digimon, it is not considered an Isekai!
This show is a PERFECT blend of action, romance, and adventure. The characters are quite interesting and are pretty well-written. The author, Rumiko Takahashi, is also well-known for her work on Ranma ½ and Maison Ikkoku. If you’re a fan of Isekai anime and haven’t watched this one, then you’re missing out on a LOT!
02. No Game No Life

Ahhhhhh! WHERE IS THE SECOND SEASON?? Fans have been asking this question for many years now. Despite being one of the most popular anime out there, there are NO CHANCES of a second season.
The plot of this fascinating show revolves around two siblings who got sucked into a fantasy world after they won a game of chess against a God named Tet. Inside this fantasy world, every dispute is settled by games! Interesting, right?
01. Re: Zero – Starting Life In Another World

Some people might not agree with this, but Re: Zero is the BEST ISEKAI anime out there. I’m a huge fan of unique anime/manga and this show falls right into that category. Some people might call it generic and cliche, but believe me! They are just HATERS!!!
Re: Zero has the best cast of characters I’ve witnessed in recent years. The characters are extremely likable and engaging. The MC, Subaru, is way more realistic and relatable than other Isekai MCs. Don’t listen to the internet and watch this show. You won’t regret it!
