2023 has proven to be a great year for anime girls with glasses. Let’s go over some of our favourites this year so far!
5) Zoe Hange (Attack On Titan)
Despite losing her left eye in the third season therefore having to wear an eyepatch, Hange still looks cool with a singular spectacle over her remaining eye. Speaking of spectacles, she sure made one in The Final Chapters Part One. Her heroic actions gave Levi and the others time to get away and head towards Eren in an attempt to atop the rumbling. Her weirdness and extravagance is one of the only comedic elements ever offered in the dark world of Attack On Titan.
4) Sakura Kouno (Horimiya)
Horimiya‘s Sakura Kouno is a manga-reading introvert and the vice-president of the student council, often seen hanging out with Sengoku and Remi in the student council room. At the end of Horimiya (2021), she wasn’t given a romantic partner and was kind of thrown to the wayside due to many manga chapters being left unadapted. She’s had her time in the spin-off series Horimiya: The Missing Pieces though, as she’s found a fellow manga enthusiast in the good-looking Akane Yanagi. The two are not confirmed yet, but it looks highly likely that they’ll get together.
3) Chizuru Ichinose (Rent-A-Girlfriend)
Chizuru is one of the most dedicated anime girls out there, she is determined to become an actress at any cost. She doesn’t wear her glasses that much when she’s doing her work as Chizuru Mizuhara – but away from her work life, as a college student, she wears her glasses and gives off a completely different aura. It’s no surprise that Kazuya fell for her!
2) Maki Zenin (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Maki of Jujutsu Kaisen is a talented weapons user. Unlike the other girls on this list, Maki needs her glasses for more than just to see better. Without them, she cannot see cursed spirits, so her ability to fight is heavily dependant on her specialised glasses. When she is wearing them, she has demonstrated her skill in battle and why she is not one to be taken lightly.
1) Ai Mie (The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses)
This anime is literally called “The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses” how could we not put Ai at number one? In terms of eyesight, she’s probably got the worst on the list. We saw first hand how terrible it was when she mistook Komura for a cat, and proceeded to pet him. Let’s hope she can learn to pick up her glasses before she heads out to school as soon as possible!
