Previously on Urusei Yatsura 2022
Ten came all the way from his home planet to Earth to visit Lum for New Year. He is an adorable alien baby but he doesn’t like Ataru very much. When he met Sakura, Ten first love bloomed but it didn’t last very long since she is already engaged! (and… a little older).
A shady investigation
The teachers are planning something, They’ve been investigating the food shops where the students go after class.
They decide to put vigilance around those shops to keep the kids from breaking the school rules… spying on the students?! That’s just wrong!! That cute cat is a traitor. Luckily Akira is spying on the teachers too and takes the message to the students. They won’t give up without a fight.
Snack battle
When the bell rings, the snack battle begins, and the students run as if their lives depend on it! but Mendo the traitor stops them calling his classmates and himself the “Covert Civility Patrol”. Lum, Ataru and their friends manage to escape to snack freedom anyways.
Their first stop is a ramen shop. It does look a little tense but the ramen lady says it’s ok to get in anyways. But she suddenly warns them. Ataru’s teacher is there dressed as a cat, they are busted. The ramen lady tries to protect them and they managed to escape. But they met Mendo who is trying to fulfill his duty. The girls use their charms to trick Mendo to let them escape.
The next stop is the taiyaki shop but Sakura is there, eating everything. A good way to stop the kids from buying stuff outside school I suppose. On the other side, the teacher gets arrested for being weird in the streets. Shop-district superman is the students’ ally. Good for him.
Next, the okonomiyaki shop defeated the teacher and made a safe space for the students’ break. Lum orders a super spicy dish that Ataru eats as punishment for flirting with the waitress. Meanwhile, the teacher is still in the police.
Battle takes place in the shop district, and in the aftermath everyone, students and teachers defeated for today, because tomorrow’s break time will bring another snack battle.
Ten’s Gift
Ten is still popular with the ladies. They are at a cafe eating cake. Ataru is still jealous of Ten stealing all the attention.
The girl starts talking about love and Sakura gets asked about an engagement. The girls ask her to show them a picture of her boyfriend and she refused. But she shows the picture anyways. Fun fact, Tsubame studied Black Magic, I want to change to Black Magic.
Ten is still jealous of Sakura’s boyfriend so he hints that Tsubame might not be the best partner for Sakura. And even buys the Lovey-Dovey crystal ball from an alien MTV program to prove it. Shinobu is the first one to try it but she is not really sure about the result.
Next to try it is Lum who sees Rei in the ball, next Ran sees Ataru?! This ball wants to see the world burn. When Sakura decided to try it, she saw not only one but two… kids?! Mendo and Ataru, together are apparently her destined soulmates. And that’s the worst time to get discovered spying under the table.
Lum takes on Ataru for not appearing in her crystal ball, how dares him!! Tsubame who was there to pick Sakura as a gentleman is caught by Shinobu who is all in about her destined partner.
Ten uses this opportunity, where everything is chaotic to run away and keep on watching his MTV program. But what do you think?! He got the wrong ball! what he was actually sent is the Trouble Couple Ball. All this fight for nothing!
