Previously on Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out, we saw the conclusion of Uzaki and Sakurai calling one another by their first names — a sign of familiarity in Japan. Sakurai joined a gym where Uzaki’s father works.
Opening Scene
At the gym, we see Uzaki’s father talking about Uzaki’s situation. He tells of her ‘Senpai’ who seemingly would like her all except for the fact that he has not made moves on the kouhai.
Sakurai states that he would take his time if he was with a girl he truly likes. The other state that he must not like the girl if he hasn’t put moves on her yet. They are all unaware of the fact that Sakurai is the boy in question.

The Family Helps Move Things Along
At home, Uzaki’s family is beginning to all understand the situation between her and her Senpai. For instance, her younger sister catches Uzaki smiling at her cell phone when Sakurai texts her back.

Uzaki reminds Tsuki that they were scheduled for a cooking lesson tomorrow, but Tsuki, now understanding that her daughter must love Sakurai, wants to get out of the way in order for their relationship to flourish. In her mind, if she’s present, Sakurai will only be fixated on her the entire time instead of Uzaki. So therefore, she makes up a lie that she has plans and cannot join them tomorrow.

Nobody corrects her in her delusion that Sakurai has a crush on her.
Day in the Life
Having the day to themselves, Uzaki and Sakurai embark on a small quest to get Uzaki’s cats used to Sakurai. Since he’s been visiting so often lately, one of the cats seems to have warmed up to him. Sakurai is delighted and Uzaki seems to have a nice time watching Sakurai be happy.

A Birthday With Uzaki
Uzaki learns that Sakurai’s birthday is November 29th, and right around the corner. She plans a fun and relaxing day filled with yummy food and video games for Sakurai, just the two of them.

We get small clips of them doing stereotypical birthday things, including a cake for Sakurai’s 21st birthday. They spend the entire day together, with no awkwardness from their ambiguous relationship.

A Deadline
On the walk back to Uzaki’s house, Sakurai offhandedly reminds her that next year she’ll be by herself since Sakurai is graduating. She pictures the future and gets solemn, visualizing herself not sitting beside him at lunch anymore.

The show sets us up to think that Uzaki may confess to Sakurai, when in reality she asks him to stay an extra year so she doesn’t have to be alone. Sakurai obviously declines this request and Uzaki and him begin to bicker.

Back to normal, roll outro.
Opinions / Analysis
I like that the writers have introduced a device that may motivate Uzaki in the future; the fact that unless they start dating, she has a limited amount of time with Sakurai left. This will stay in Uzaki’s mind now and in the future when making decisions.
Also — I cannot wait for the reveal that Uzaki’s father works at the gym that Sakurai goes to.
Other than that, we’re seeing a higher frequency of Uzaki and Sakurai staying together without it seeming awkward or weird. Sakurai and Uzaki are practically always on one another’s mind at this point.
Next episode, I hope to see Uzaki trying to make the most of her time with Sakurai!
