With a few episodes left before ending, Thorfinn makes a bold decision to step into the camp of the Danish army, while Ketil’s family is dealing with pressure from King Canute and facing a tough dilemma to either save the farm or themselves.
The Path of a King
This episode is opened with a decision of Canute who wants no more harm given to the farm but ends up being confronted by the ghost of King Sweyn who states that his action to show mercy is too late and his ambition will only lead him to the path full of blood and deaths.

This conflicted emotion of his might probably work as a teaser for what is coming to Canute’s characterization in the future. Emphasizing that he might fully turn into a cruel and heartless ruler just like his father, and finally acts as the king who believes in his vision without caring lives of the others.
Growth of The Young Boss
The later part of this episode brings us to the family of Ketil who discusses their stance and decision in their defeat of the war. Surprisingly, we get to see a shocking decision and revelation by Olmar who serves as the acting leader.

What is so amazing in this particular scene is how each character involved has different opinions, stances, and reasons for this big problem. Some believe they must fight back with the remaining warriors, but in the end, Olmar takes his decision and grows into a man that cares about his own and others’ lives as he states that the farm must surrender to the Royal Army in order to save the lives of the living ones
Thorfinn’s Durability Test
Thorfinn’s vow and will are tested once again as he must deal with the Royal Army while working on his initiative to meet King Canute and speaks with him on his own. Although he is being punched and becomes a bet for Canute’s army, and even though Einar tries to stop his ridiculous idea, Thorfinn stays to stand strong and takes all the attacks without even fighting back.

Will this idea work? Will Thorfinn really swing no punch at all? And will King Canute ever see and talk to Thorfinn again? These three questions are pretty much the core points of Thorfinn’s reckless action and key factors that keep the story at stake.
Final Verdict
The aftermath of the peak of this season is calm but also tense at the same time. The after-effects and casualties of the war leave a massive scar on Ketil’s farm and Thorfinn with Einar. This unpleasant circumstance is once again handled extremely well by MAPPA, especially the voice actors in this episode that mostly carry the entire conflict and emotion in the story through their lines and dialogues.

A little change is added in this episode as Einar and Leif have a brief moment to talk to each other about Thorfinn’s decision, and needless to say, it’s a little change that does not harm the importance or tension of the story from the manga but gives a massive impact that shows that Leif fully sees and trusts in Thorfinn’s ambition to settle down the chaos.
