Overview
Jujutsu Kaisen is a series that most anime fans have heard of. It was awarded “Anime of the Year” at the 5th Crunchyroll Anime Awards last February 19, 2021. Because of this, the announcement of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie was highly-anticipated. It was released on December 2021 in Japan and March 2022 in the US and other regions. The studio that worked on the animation for the movie is MAPPA, just like the first anime season. The anime soundtrack was also incredible and captured the whole atmosphere of the movie well. The film was directed by Sunghoo Park, a well-known director for titles like Terror in Resonance, The God of High School, Banana Fish, and more. You can watch the anime on streaming sites like Crunchyroll on September 21, 2022. Fans are expecting the film to be released on other streaming services soon.
Premise
Instead of Itadori Yuji, the protagonist of the movie is Yuta Okkotsu. He’s a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and a close friend to the other second-year students. Satoru Gojo enrolled him at the academy so that they can monitor his status because of the curse hunting him. Yuta was haunted by his childhood friend, Rika, whose spirit was cursed and transformed into a Special Grade Vengeful Cursed Spirit. The movie will focus on Yuta’s life as a jujutsu sorcerer and the challenges that he may face after joining the academy.
Returning Casts
Gojo is a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer professor that works as a professor at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Because of this, many cursed spirits are afraid of him. He’s known to be the strongest in the world and was respected by many despite his easygoing attitude. His power includes the Limitless and the Six Eyes which give him the upper hand in combats.
Maki is also a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Even though Maki was born in the Big Three Sorcerer Families, she doesn’t have abilities that let people see cursed spirits. Because of this, people bullied Maki then the clan expelled her. But despite being a non-sorcerer, Maki fights enemies with her strength and master handling of cursed tools.
A person who speaks only with onigiri ingredients, Toge Inumaki is a person who possesses the cursed speech from the Inumaki clan. He’s also a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and a great friend of Maki and Panda. Inumaki’s power makes his throat irritated and will lead him to cough up blood with excessive use. To avoid this, he speaks only with his favorite food and brings cough syrups with him in battle.
“Panda is not a panda.” Panda is also a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High like Maki and Inumaki. He’s an Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpse that was created by Masamichi Yaga, the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High. Because of this, Panda has exceptional physical strength and can manipulate his highly cursed energy.
